I have been buying outdoor power equipment,mowers,whipper snippers,chainsaws, etc from ebay and 2nd hand stores that is not working,
i fix them up and sell them for a profit.
although if i see an item on ebay, i then find it near impossible to find out what that item is worth, whether it be when it was new or a used price.
does anyone know a site/sites that can give me prices of what these are worth
all brands such as, honda, stihl, mcculoch, briggs and stratton, poulan, etc

Question by David D: I have some very expensive outdoor power equipment…..?

… that is missing. Last year, I lost my 3 bedroom home in a forclosure and invested in some very expensive outdoor power equipment to maintan my property. Now, I’m in a 2 bedroom apartment and have no room for storage. Upon moving into the apartment last August, I asked my landlord if it would be ok if I could store some of my outdoor power equipment in one of the storage rooms. I told him that I would use it to help maintain the grounds around my building and the building across the street. He said it would be fine. Some of the items I was storing are a 6.5 hp Toro personal pace mower, a Mantis rototiller and a Echo split shaft trimmer.
Last week I had asked the landlord if I could get my equipment to do some work around the properties. When he opened the doors to both storage rooms my equipment was missing! He stated that the supervisor may have moved it to his brothers house in a different city. When I asked the supervisor, he claimed that it may have been stolen.
The supervisor is the only other person other than the landlord that has key to the storage rooms. I then asked the landlord to confront the supervisor on the where abouts of my belongings.
Do I have any legal recourse in this matter? My missing equipment is valued at over 00.00 and I do have receipts and owners manuals to prove ownership. Please help!
I suspect that the supervisor is the one that has stolen the equipment since he is the one with a key and he lives in one of the units on the property. I am affraid that if I confront the supervisor again that he might get spooked and move the equipment from his brothers house to another location.

Do you have anything in writing about keeping the equipment on the property? A lot of people still do the “hand-shake” or verbal agreement but that doesn’t hold up in a court of law if it comes to that.

Do you have renters insurance? Can you file a claim – you did say you have receipts. Your insurance should cover the cost of the items but I recommend you file a police report first to include with your claim.
